The old one is fried, and I'm accessing the hard-drive via a little hard-drive adaptor thing which allows me to see it as an external drive. However.... it won't let Vista tried to dick me about but I eventually allowed me access. XP (which I'm using now) won't let me access it at all. Any idea how to do this?

Vista doesn't see my third hard drive
Presumably its a 16 bit installer (which of course won't run on x64) even though Riven itself is obviously 32 bit. Anyone know of a 32 bit installer ? Found a solution, see below... Otherwise I am stuck with XP 32 on a laptop. Annoying as this is the one that I really wanted to play (1) never finished it the first

As a general rule for myself though, I won't do MP ina game until after I've finished it in SP. Maybe I should break that rule this time around. Tragic because the MP is better... Luckily, there's no monthly fee, and I have the room on my HDD, so I leave it on so that its ready to go when the whim grabs me.

Scan Disk won't work!!
Media Center can't play DVD folder rips on the Hard Disk Drive which makes it worthless for DVD library playback. I can't believe this isn't supported. Why, if I change my Shell Dlg font in XP to Segoe UI, the default size is 8pt - in Vista, it’s 9pt - and that REALLY screws things up.

It was handy! You have to reinstall Vista. To get your Data off the hard drive, remove it and use it as a slave drive in the other computer. I decided that I might as well see if there was a repair option once I started an install (like with XP) ... I get as far as entering my prod key & then it tells me that

There are other 64-bit apps that do sell for OS X. And where does that leave those using 32-bit Vista? Still, Apple won't really feel the pinch until home computes get up there. However, since you'll only need to face this first thing in the morning, rather than several times a day, this won't be a big issue. :-) BTW, if or when you decide to buy a new PC, _insist_ on winXP rather than accept that festering PoS known as Vista (AKA Vasti). For that reason, I won't even touch XP or Vista. I'm not sure of WinME allows for this or not. The whole issue comes down to the format of the hard drive. In other words, my OS and programs are on the FIRST harddrive. My storage is all on a SECOND (slave) drive. I have a 3rd drive, which is where I moved a
